The site is no stranger to activity, having been continuously developed over the last 400 years. For the first time in its history however, the entire area is being planned strategically as a network of villages and hamlets alongside an employment hub, all set within a generous green backcloth. The planned North Lanarkshire Pan Orbital Link Road will improve the already excellent transport links of the wider site.
The Masterplan draws together a series of legacy planning permissions and recasts the site as a new neighbourhood. Berryhill is the first phase within the Masterplan.
A Planning Permission in Principle (PPP) application was submitted to North Lanarkshire Council in July 2024 to the east of Berryhill for mixed-use development encompassing new housing, commercial uses, retail and leisure, community facilities including primary school and nursery and associated access and landscaping.
